I hate to say this but that applies to the naive. Now there are some who have great personality, and great looks but they aren't just born with the looks, they keep themselves looking healthy and work hard to stay fit from the tan / shade of their skin to workouts to keep in shape. Someone who does such things shows that they have enough discipline and enough respect for themselves to keep healthy and fit. But the complete opposite can be shown, a person can have a nice appearance physically but have an awful personality / character. With that being said, I stand on what I said earlier. You can wish / encourage someone to be as healthy as they can, and if that compliments their physical appearance and the face they were born with then thats great ^_^. Caring past that, I would have to say the person is naive and hasn't lived long enough / experienced enough to understand why character and personality matter much more. Even what you said about doing something for your gf such as shaving and keeping fit isnt so much a physical caring aspect, as it is character, because your doing it for yourself and for her. But if I gave too much credit and its simply just *hey i want to look good because its what matters to me over a persons personality including my own* then thats just naive and childish.

ok i know that everyone has a right to an opionion but for you to reply calling me naive and childish? you must have misunderstood me im saying that if you look nice then people are more willing to walk up to you and get to know you as you see personallity comes next so i wasnt trying to say that personallity doesnt matter it just comes next so go ahead and make your opionion but dont try insulting people cause thats just childish itself

No you're misunderstanding me, I tackled both sides saying that its possible for someone to keep in shape out of self respect and respect for who they want to be with and consider personality. On the other hand I said if the person keeps themselves physically looking good and in shape *just* because they think it matters / means the most vs other traits like personality then they are naive and childish. I didn't say you were on either side or judged you ^_^;

Being cute and hot is needed for attraction. If you arent attracted to someone then it's almost near impossible to really like them in some way. If a person has a great personailty and they aren't brad pitt but you are still attracted to them your life is set. Personally I can't stand dating a girl who isn't smarter than me it's just a complicated matter that I have so I often pass on most girls. But thats just me.

Ive only skimmed through the topic, didnt read anything past the second page.

My feelings are that looks and personality are about even. But focusing in on only these two qualities of a person is kind of dumb. There are a lot of other qualities that people consider, that I wouldnt list under personality.

In any case, of course I think about looks first. I see someone I think is cute, find out more about them then see if Im still interested.

As other people have said theres always the initial attraction.

Seems the way the world works is that people who value personality over looks dont have much say since they are lacking in the latter. Then they get together with other people who are in the same situation and have fugly babies together.

While there are obvious exceptions to this, most of the time thats just the way it works.

~I'll comment on this one. Well, seriously, personality and looks should go hand in hand. It's true, we are easily attracted to someone with the opposite sex because of their looks. But as you go along and get to know that person, no matter how beautiful or handsome he or she maybe, it is still up to you to realize if that person is worthy to be praise or not. Personality can never be changed as to what some believe but we can still make adjustments to turn him into somewhat positive or negative. Looks can sometimes be deceiving but we have our own choice.
